DJI’s new Mavic Mini is the ideal drone for everyone
DJI unleashed its smallest and lightest drone on the world this morning and it just might be the cutest drone ever. There’s no 4K recording, slow motion, flat profile or Hasselblad branding here like on the Mavic 2 but then again, the Mavic Mini is meant for beginners on a budget and the specs here are much better than what we had on the Spark, which also used to cost more.
“Mavic Mini’s long flight time, ultra-light weight and high-quality camera makes it DJI’s everyday drone – and most importantly, it’s easy to fly, no matter your experience level with drones”.
The DJI Mavic Mini is already available for pre-order in the United States and is expected to ship out on 11 November. However, DJI was able to shave enough weight off the Mini to bring it down to 249 grams, one gram shy of the weight which would require you to register the drone with the FAA.
The DJI Mavic Mini goes on sale today, and will start shipping on November 11.
After several online leaks and rumours, DJI has officially lifted up the curtains on its latest drone, the Mavic Mini.
Getting back on point: regarding its dimensions, the Mavic Mini measures out at 140 x 82 x 57mm when folded, and 245 x 290 x 55 unfolded with its propellers attached. The regular $399 package includes a controller, one battery and an extra set of propellers. The Mavic Mini Fly More Combo comes with a 360-degree propeller cage, two-way charging Hub, a total of three batteries, three sets of propellers and a carrying case, in addition to the items available in the standard version. Moreso than the company’s other drones, you can stuff this in a backpack and still have room for plenty of other stuff. All of that video is shot super smooth with a 3-axis gimbal. On the imaging front, the Mavic Mini uses a 1/2.3-inch sensor which is capable of shooting at 30 frames per second. It can shoot 2.7K video at 30fps and 1080p video at 60fps. Cars, trees, and buildings were all crisp and detailed, and despite the overcast day, colors were well saturated.
