‘I’m so passionate about sharing our beautiful region’: Robert Irwin, 15, wins Queensland tourism accolade

He’s known for his stunning photography documenting the best of Australia’s world-famous landscapes. 

And 15-year-old Robert Irwin has now been honoured after winning the Queensland Tourism Young Achiever Award.

The son of Aussie legend Steve Irwin announced his latest accolade on Instagram, saying he was ‘very excited’ to take home the prestigious title.

He wrote: ‘I am so passionate about sharing our beautiful region and country with the world and the environmental importance of our unique wildlife and habitat.

‘I’m a proud #Queenslander, it’s the greatest state in the best country on earth!’

Taking to Instagram, he shared pictures of himself dressed in a sharp blue suit as he accepted the award.

While friends and fans around the world were quick to congratulate the youngster on social media. 

His win comes after Robert was revealed as one of the faces of the new Tourism Australia campaign alongside his mum Terri.

The conservationist mum and son duo are part of the global initiative with Chris Hemsworth who signed on as an ambassador in 2018.

And last year, Robert made headlines for his photography skills when he was highly commended in one of the most prestigious competitions in the world.

He travelled to London for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards where his picture of a huntsman tree mauling a desert tree made the final cut.

Before that, Robert was named as a runner up in the 2016 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of Year competition.
