Strictly’s Kelvin Fletcher resorting to sickness tablets to cope with Viennese Waltz

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Kelvin Fletcher is having to resort to travel sickness tablets after spending the week throwing up because of the vigorous spins in this week’s routine.

The former Emmerdale star, who is partnered with Oti Mabuse, is set to dance the Viennese Waltz this Saturday to Say Something by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera.

“I was sick for the first time on Monday,” he said. “That has always been my biggest fear with anything ballroom. With the waltz, especially the Viennese Waltz , it looks so beautiful and effortless and flows.

“But the spins, they look so stunning but I fear them because the minute I start spinning my head goes and on Monday I was in the toilet and it wasn’t pretty.”

Professional Neil Jones also had to miss last week’s show after hurting himself during the rehearsal and was replaced by Kevin Clifton.

Reflecting on the mishaps, he said he hoped he hadn’t ‘cursed’ the cast saying: “I hope it’s not me! I come in and everyone gets injured!”

He gets up at 5am to workout before Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals and he has lost 11lb despite eating 3,000 calories a day.

But he admitted he finds it “cringe” when people comment on his hips.

He added: “It’s a little bit cringe hearing things like that. It’s nice but I don’t really know how to take it.

“We should make sure the hips are in there in every dance. Subconsciously I’ve been using the hips too much even the ballroom. For the waltz, I have to keep my hips still and my bum out.”
